England and Wales Chapter

The England & Wales Chapter of the Institute of Operational Risk exists to support the IOR’s members in the region. The Chapter was established in 2012 and has provided many successful events over the years. The chapter continues to evolve and grow. We believe that the IOR, as a professional institute for operational risk management, should set an example for good governance and sound management. The Chapter is governed by a Chapter Executive Committee with clear assigned roles and responsibilities within the leadership team.

We aim to deliver value for money to our members by offering a variety of events, including interactive workshops, seminars presented by top industry professionals and networking events (most of them are free of charge for members). We will also continue to partner with other organisations to offer access and discounts at their events for our members. Please see our programme of upcoming events at the bottom of this page. We also aim to strengthen our membership base so you can make the most of networking opportunities.

Operational risk management has never been more important and is a focus of global and national regulators. We will keep you updated on material regulatory developments through ad hoc briefings and insight papers (as well of course as through events).

We also want to be closer to you and get in touch more often via email, social media and the IOR website. Of course, we will also want to hear back from you about the things you like and where we can improve. The Chapter welcomes suggestions from members for events and activities both in London and elsewhere in England and Wales – please email suggestions to David Goodyear

The rise of operational risk webinar

This 90-minute event with three excellent speakers and a panel discussion will provide a forward-looking view on the growing importance, influence and recognition of operational risk management - is it finally coming of age?

The title 'The rise of operational risk' arises from the growing sense that the value and necessity of sound operational risk management are becoming more appreciated by outside practitioners and a light is being shone on operational risk management frameworks through senior management interest following the Coronavirus crisis and the importance of operational resilience.

Does operational risk have a real opportunity to be advanced by leveraging the interest in the discipline arising out of the response to Coronavirus and the description of operational resilience is an outcome of sound operational risk management?

This event is a fantastic opportunity to hear the views of three excellent and diverse speakers who will also be joining a panel to answer your questions.

This event aligns with IRM's strategic objectives as it will promote operational risk, the IOR and IRM.
