Purpose of the group

The IRM India Regional Group is an extension of the activities pursued by the IRM India Affiliate. IRM in India is focused on empowering the students, professionals and all types of organisations with IRM’s globally recognised 5-Level qualifications and customised industry trainings in enterprise risk management.

The group aims to expand IRM’s global risk community by advancing and generating value for the ERM profession in India with the highest standards of ethics, education, research and knowledge that improves outcomes for organisations through our qualified students and members. 

The group promotes the development of an ecosystem for: professionals, business owners, academics, entrepreneurs and students from an enterprise risk management perspective and seeks to educate and continuously evaluate its application across sectors. The group, on request, may invite participation from members in the following areas: 

  • Sharing regional / Indian perspectives, thoughts and ideas for the global platform
  • Providing risk-related inputs on various sectors of the Indian economy
  • Contributing to thought leadership publications, surveys and research
  • Participating in panel discussions, online webinars and events
  • Expansion of risk management education in India and enhancing knowledge

Aims and Objectives

1. Promote enterprise risk management as a preferred career amongst students, academics and professionals in a growing market like India, where there is a huge need for risk professionals across the spectrum.

2. Work on research, thought leadership and surveys on India specific topics.

3. Launch webinars and workshops in collaboration with trade bodies, associations.

4. Support IRM in expanding it's global community in India through policy advocacy, working with various stakeholders, working with IRM India Affiliate's advisory board of business leaders & chief risk officers to discuss contemporary issues.

5. Organise sector groups / SIGs to discuss sector specific issues and come up with advisory / guidance notes.

South Africa and India RIGs joint webinar - Reputation and risk management: How to stay credible in the era of fake news and protect business operations

This is a joint webinar held by the IRM's South Africa and India RIGs, which will explore the topic of "fake news risk management" and it's various impacts on an organisation's different functions. Featuring insights from a great range of highly influential and senior speakers.

 

Moderator

Terence Murasiki

Terence has worked in various roles over the past 26-years, most spent in an advisory role. He is a strategy, technology, risk management and audit professional. He has previously worked for Deloitte in technology and general assurance and for SNG Grant Thornton as a senior manager (corporate governance services).

He founded the ABMI Research Institute as a company specialising in risk advisory as well as investing in the development of unique intellectual property and methods in risk management. He is well known for his innovation of the attribute-based maturity index, a fast-growing model for risk maturity, benchmarking and competency development including automation thereof.

He currently serves as a member of the IRM regional interest group for South Africa as well as serving as a small business mentor for the Black Umbrellas business incubator.

Speakers

Amos Mananyetso
Amos Mananyetso is one of the foremost journalists in South Africa with a career spanning over two decades. The first half of Mananyetso’s career was spent in sports writing. However, Mananyetso has been widely published and has written in subjects ranging from: education, politics, travel, books, features, socio-economic and current affairs. Some of his work has been published by the BBC, Scotland on Sunday, Aftonbladed (Sweden), The Post (Zambia) and he was also quoted as an expert in the book, 'A Perfect Press Release ... Or Not?' by Jennigay Coetzer. Mananyetso is currently the Head of News at Daily Sun, where he is responsible for the papers overall content development for print, online and TV.

Jyoti Ruparel
Jyoti is the Chief Risk Officer at Genpact and is a Strategic Advisory Board Member for the IRM India Affiliate. Jyoti has also been a jury member on CNBC TV18's India Risk Management Awards.

Mikateko Chauke
With a career span of almost 20 years, Mika has gained experience in advertising, PR, brand communications, corporate communications, mergers and acquisitions, foreign direct investment promotion, stakeholder relations, creative and digital, marketing and activations. Mika has held brand communications and advertising, stakeholders relations and strategy positions in various organisations and serviced a number of clients including Absa, Capitec Bank, McDonald’s SA, Anglo American, MMI Holdings, Shell SA, Eskom, General Electric and the Association of Mineworkers and Construction Union.

Richard Lukacs

Richard Lukacs is a Specialist, Global Risks and Geopolitical Agenda at the World Economic Forum and is a Strategic Advisory Board Member for IRM India Affiliate

Themba Sepotokele

Themba Sepotokele is a journalist, communication strategist and media trainer with more more than twenty-seven years working in the media, government, private sector and academia. 

He held several media and strategic communications and has presented papers in various forums. He is attached to Rhodes University's Sol Plaatjie Media Leadership Institute.  

He holds a Masters in Management of Technology and Innovation from the Da Vinci Institute of Management, a Certificate in Business Communications from Unisa, a National Diploma in Journalism from Cape Peninsula University of Technology.
