International Diploma - Required Reading

What will I be required to read?

Students will be provided with study guides that list 'required reading' for each module. These lists are found in the module handbooks provided to all students on enrolment (after payment of all fees).

Examiners will expect students to have read all the material on these lists. Examinations will be set on the basis of this assumption.

Example of Required Reading List

Do I need to read any more widely than the 'required reading' list?

Yes, the IRM does expect its International Diploma students to read and study beyond the 'required reading' list. The Diploma is a post-graduate qualification and it is appropriate that students should be capable of, and undertake, some self-directed learning. The marking scheme for the exams will give credit where additional reading and research is demonstrated. The highest marks will only be achievable where evidence of such additional study is present.

How do I get hold of the 'required reading'?

All the required reading for each module will be provided through IRM's online reading room. This removes the need for students to buy textbooks, subscribe to journals or or search websites themselves. We expect this to be particularly advantageous for students in territories where ordering books takes a long time. It also allows students to budget a fixed rate for all their resource requirements rather than variable amounts for textbook purchase.

Access to the online reading room requires payment of the online resources fee for each module. This covers the costs paid by IRM to a third party specialist supplier covering all copyrights and licences and management of online access.

Does the online reading room also give access to wider reading material?

Yes, the online resources fee paid by students provides access to IRM's wider online knowledge centre.
