Dstl exists to provide our armed forces with the winning-edge. The MOD’s centre of scientific excellence, we house one of the largest groups of scientists and engineers in the country. As an organisation engaged in pioneering and sensitive research, it’s vital we manage our risks effectively. And that’s where this new role comes in.

You’ll develop a risk strategy for our entire organisation. It’s a brief that’ll see you overseeing not just our financial risks, but our business, technical and environmental risks too – so expect a wide-ranging remit. Liaising with a variety of stakeholders, you’ll drive through an intelligent and holistic programme of risk management across the various parts of our complex operation.

It’s a key role, calling for an experienced professional with a scientific or technical background. A high-calibre individual, you’ll have managed corporate, project and operational risks before. Ideally, this will have been in a scientific environment. If you’ve got MSP and Prince2 qualifications to your name too, this would be a great asset.
